Material/Alloy

Materials Rheinzink

RHEINZINK is an alloy of electrolytically refined zinc with a 99.995% degree of purity and accurately defined parts of copper and titanium. In a single continuous operation, the raw material is melted, cast and wound onto steel coils.  The quality of the material is consistent and flawless.  These coils are used in further processing as universal source material, to produce high-quality products for the RHEINZINK-roof drainage program and to produce finished parts, for roofing and facade cladding, including building profiles. RHEINZINK is available in a "bright-rolled" finish and as a ready-to-use "preweathered" material with a typical blue-grey or graphite-grey appearance.

Storage and Transportation

Basically, one must ensure that RHEINZINK products are always stored and transported under dry and ventilated conditions. Therefore, open transportation should be avoided, particularly during changeable weather conditions.  For optimum storage on the construction site, a dry, ventilated area should be requested from construction site administration.

If these rules are not complied with, there will be a build-up of zinc hydroxide.  Furthermore, the following must be avoided:

  • Covering coils or prefabricated panels without ventilation
  • Change in dew point
  • Storage on a damp floor
  • Transport or storage on damp pallets
  • Very tight stacking of material during transportation or storage (to avoid abrasions on RHEINZINK-"preweathered pro")

Marking
  • RHEINZINK sheets and strips:  a continuous coloured stamp on the underside of the metal.
  • Eaves gutters and rainwater downpipes: continuous embossed stamp.
  • Accessories for roof drainage systems: an embossed stamp.
  • Pallets containing roof drainage products: stickers on the packaging, along with detailed product information.
